Shimon Zimbovsky, Director
Shimon completed his design training at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a recipient of the prestigious Ryerson Traveling Fellowship. Through this fellowship, he explored water-sensitive planning and sustainable urban design in Israel, conducting fieldwork that included interviews with leading researchers and professionals. His research resulted in comprehensive case studies analyzing the performance of constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment across various scales, complexities, and urban settings.
Passionate about the intersection of the built environment and human health, Shimon serves as an Adjunct Professor at Chatham University in Pittsburgh and Florida Atlantic University, where he teaches Environmental Psychology, Site Planning, Building Codes, Architectural Theory, and Digital Drawing.
Early in his career, he focused on evidence-based design through post-occupancy evaluations of urban design projects, nature-based playgrounds, and healing spaces in Chicago. With 15 years of architectural experience, his portfolio includes the design and project management of mid-rise and high-rise mixed-use multi-family projects, K-12 educational facilities, ground-up residential as well as additions and interior alterations, and restaurant hospitality projects.
As a conscientious and detail-oriented professional, Shimon is committed to delivering thoughtful, high-quality design solutions that enhance both functionality and well-being. He values collaboration and is dedicated to working with clients who share a vision for excellence in the built environment.
